CRC raspberry pi-3 Storm Trooper edition

Download Trooper1-1 (Oct-3-2016) here

Please unzip using 7zip which you can download from here: http://www.7-zip.org/a/7z1603.exe

I have had 2 reports of the image freezing at the boot screen, I have deleted and uploaded a fresh image. Let me know if you have any issues at all?

We have created a raspberry pi 3 image which currently has support for the dv4 mini, fun cube, air spy and rtl dongles.
We added our own splash screen
Our unique set up announces the local IP address, just plug in your headphones or speaker into the pi.
Like other images ours also auto starts dv4 software so you can run headless (no screen)
Dv4mini
We also installed dv4fm
Latest version of GQRX is also installed

Virtual radar is also installed
SSTV is also there
MMDV installed
remote desktop is installed so you can access from a windows or Linux PC easily

We will be adding as many useful programs as possible.

We will add the link early next week so you can get a copy of our image

  1. Very interested in the "CRC raspberry pi-3 Storm Trooper edition".
Got a MS account so I could download the image. Popped the image to a 16 GB card. Plugged keyboard, mouse, network, FCD Pro in to the PI 3. Powered up.
Got the Screensplash. Otherwise, nothing. test the SD card with a KODI image, KODI worked, so PI and card are okay. Tried to be clever and bought a 32 GB card, no luck. Am I missing somethin?

    1. I have just uploaded another image, my thought process is to drop the overclock speed to normal (700Mhz) and that if you need to edit this you can either do it in linux or using windows notepad on a windows pc.

  2. Well, it does at least start. But with a FCD Pro, GQRX runs 2 seconds and that hangs. Sometimes you can ctrl-C out of it, sometimes not. After crashing: on restarting it hangs at the splashscreen, or at a CLI line complaining of a CRC data error, or goes to a GUI login in page requesting a user id / password. Have rebuilt the SD card 3 times. Always the same, GQRX crash. I do not have the LINUX knowledge to sort it out. Are there some other steps needed or should it run "straight out the box"?

    3. Just for the sake of completion: the issue here was with the CPC made Raspberry pi-3 boards, they do not like the image, just the UK ones for now. Thanks

  3. Downloaded trooper1-1.7z. Starts-up in GUI mode. Desktop is missing the "start/power-down" menu. DV control panel occupies top left area. Covers other application icons. Does not allow itself to be moved, or closed. No ctrl-C function. No window panels can be moved.

  4. Hi George, great work on the install and getting to the desktop. I'm glad that much works. Did I call out the IP address for you?
if you hold down control and alt keys then tap F1 or F2 it will bring you into command line, log in as pi / raspberry
you can then type: sudo killall mono
this will stop the dv4-mini software and return you to the desktop.
Hopefully this will give you enough room to open GQRX and see the other desktop icons, do also check screen resolution is set to match your screen type. Thanks James.

    1. Hi Gianpaolo, Happy to try and help but I dont have the maplin weather station to actually test, there is some documentation on the Internet, if you let me know the exact model of the WX station I can try build something. Would you be free one evening to do a remote session so i could take a look at all? Sorry for the long delay in getting back to you 73 James / M0JFP
